Gems on Screen 2007

It's been an awesome year in the movie industry (in my opinion). I've never wanted to catch so many films at the theatres in an entire year before. I've also not had trouble deciding the rating/ranking of films before. Still, amidst all that films this year, these are my top few selections for 2007.

1. Transformers 5/5
I was struggling to decide the first 3 films. Transformers topped this years chart because i enjoyed every single bit of this film, it's fast moving plot incorporated a good mix of humour, action, romance and friendship.

2. Priceless 5/5
Audrey Tautou's finest since Ameli indeed. The un-hollywood-ish style and humour in this french film appealed to me.

3. Ratatouille 4.5/5
This movie exudes warmth. And that warmth is contagious. Just, prepare to laugh and cry with that rat.

4. Freedom Writers - 4.5/5
Jeniffer Garner gave a great delivery of perseverance in this film. Having McDreamy in this film is a bonus.

5. Notes on a Scandal - 4.5/5
Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench displayed great chemistry in this film. Yes, i never expected the nice old school teacher to become a possessive lesbian pervert. You will love the film to bits if you take time to savour every moment of it.

6. Enchanted - 4/5
Banging on an original idea to great success, Amy Adams role shines the brightest star followed by the retarded looking prince charming. Ooh, not forgetting the cute chipmunk pip.

7. Knocked Up - 4/5
Seeing Katherine Heigal and that's more than enough reason for me to watch it. Still, it was one of the films where i laughed the most this year while watching her in action.

8. Music and Lyrics - 4/5
'Way Back Into Love' by Hugh Grant and Haley Bennett, the anthem for lovers this year no?

9. 881 4/5
One of my favourite local productions to date. Tears and laughter.

10. Dreamgirls 4/5When Beyonce sang "Listen" and the nothing else was on the screen except for her face, i was feeling all emotional.

11. Little Children 4/5 This film really made me think. No matter what fantasies/dreams we have, reality still wins.

12. Alvin and the Chipmunks 4/5

13. Zodiac 4/5

14. Order of the Phoenix 4/5
My Favourite Harry Potter film to date.

15. Secret 4/5

And the other films that i watched ...

3.5/5 - Hairspray; The Home Song Stories; Hot Fuzz; Rise of the Silver Surfer; Blades of Glory; Eternal Summer; Breaking and Entering

3/5 - The Game Plan; Mr Woodcock; The Red Cuckatoo; The Fountain; Happy Birthday; The Painted Veil

2/5 - Shrek 3; Unrest; Pirates of Carribean:At Worlds's End; Spiderman 3
